Robin, you have created the perfect tour.  (Nancy and I like to plan our trips and so I dislike the concept of packaged tours. But there was no minibus with a single guide that spews from a boring script listing the lineage of kings and potentates that no cares about.  And no compulsory stops at the kick-back gift shop.)

You have the perfect structure.  Each couple gets their own SUV, our own guide and driver.  As you put it we are captains of our own ship and can stop anywhere for as long as we want.  Plus we got the camaraderie of being with like-minded people in the evenings for dinner and discussion.  It was interesting how there was so much variation in the experiences of the day.  We all got the itinerary items checked off but we also had personal encounters and experiences that were all our own.

The attentiveness of the guides and drivers was excellent.

Great value for the money we spent.  Great life-long memories with a wonderful richness of images collected.

Robin's Notes:
Randy is an accomplished photographer and took many "artsy" photos that I'm sure will someday grace the walls of his home and office.  But I really like Randy's answer to my call for favorite photographs as opposed to best photographs.  These photos speak of his own brand of Gross National Happiness—they are fun and bring a smile to my face every time I see them.  Thanks, Randy, for sharing these with us.

Randal's Camera Bag
I brought the tripod because you insisted.  Good insisting!  All equipment was exactly right and all worked well:
  • Canon 5D MKII X 2 bodies
  • Canon 70-200 f2.8
  • Canon 24-105 f4
  • Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod with pistol griphead
  • 6 batteries
  • 16 X 16GB cards
  • Macbook Pro solid state 500GB
  • Lacie 500GB back-up drive

Your reflector was a good idea.  Never used one before but will soon add it to my kit.
